Cognitive psychology and ergonomics pioneered the human-computer interaction research. The idea of treating the computer as an entity to be interacting with, and treating human as an entity to optimize for was very novel at the time. The ways to involve people in computing system design evolved as our technologies did. In this talk,I present how notions of designing for people are changing in computer science. My quick survey of methodologies, goals and influences show how new trends in research may influence very interesting and unorthodox systems.
